Cisco Cracking Down On Brain Dumps
Well it is about time. I have had the unfortunate experience of catching out several 'certified' overseas IT people in the microsoft and cisco areas. I have a multi stage interview process for technical staff, and they all got caught out in the the technical test! Funnily enough they were all from recruiters and this had led me to place even less trust in recruiters and unfortunately I now vet all staff who have been in country less than 5 years for their complete work history and qualifications now.
Yeah its hard to say thoguh CIsco are terrible in actually asking questions and i think that most people would still want to look at the tests and see what the answer is before spending $$$ to do a test. Also it should be noted that cisco do change their answers as well, e.g. If you dispute somthing you got wrong, they might change it so you got it right, but the 300000 other people who didnt dispute it and got it wrong, still got it wrong. I think there is a vision that if you have that MSCE or CCNA or what ever, youll get the job now i do think that is true, but if you have those skills, that business that is going to employ you is going to need those skills, so if you dont have them youll be out pretty quickly. The exams are a joke to begin with. Why crack down on so called 'cheats' when the vendors should fix their exams? So, you failed a few did you?
Sure sounds like sour grapes to me. I have been doing the MS Exams since NT4, now THEY weren't much chop but the later exams (2000/2003) are much better, I'll have a go at some of the 2008 exams soon, I hear they are further improved. The vendors make the exams so that they can make a quick few $100+ dollars. They don't care about what they are testing, if they did, they would make it cheaper or offer alternative ways of testing. The whole 'certification' path in Australia is the biggest money grabbing exercise I've ever seen. Especially when you compare how India does things – they actually care about making sure their candidates learn from their classes. Nope, and you'd be wrong. Especially when you compare how India does things – they actually care about making sure their candidates learn from their classes. Apollo I agree the costs of taking vendor certification exams in OZ is probably double what it should be, and that sucks. However the process is the same in the EU and in north america (I have worked and sat exams in both regions). There are many other reasons to gain these certification and they are really most useful (for me as an employer) for experienced staff to validate their level of knowledge in a particular vendor environment.
