I don't have Bnet capable CD-Keys right now (I used to have a set, it's probably in an installed copy in some old harddrive in my mom's house, several hours away from where I live now). I'd hate to have to buy them again to find out the scene is dead (Starcraft UMS scene on BNet is quite small right now IMO. Like at certain hours of the day, you might even end up with only 2-5 games listed on even on USWest, and most would not even be UMS) • And is the custom game scene more active on alternative servers? I remember you could play custom games on Garena/GGClient (but it seems they've since removed that virtual LAN functionality).

I have no idea what these games even are, one is supposedly a card game (ala MtG?) o_O What new Blizzard game has the most active custom game scene? Is it worth getting Starcraft II for this? The War3 community is still around, although obviously not as big as it used to be. There are still people playing custom games on battle.net, but it's usually the same handful of custom maps people are playing: footies, dota, troll wars, wintermaul, vampirism, and a few others.

You can find people playing them, although what time you're playing can affect how long it takes to find a full match. There are now bots in the game that allow players from all servers (US,Europe,Asia) to join the same game. At least it was the last time I checked a few months ago; Blizzard may have removed them. It seems that most of the players are based in Europe. As for WCArena and other private servers, I can't really comment on them as I only ever play on original battle.net servers, but I do know WCArena is big for people wanting to play the actually ladder competitive game; long time pro Grubby streams on twitch using WC3Arena. The SC2 custom map community never really kicked off the way sc1 and war3 did, but it's got a bit of juice in it.
